Array ( [sid] => 107299 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => A Different Role [time] => 2005-10-07 23:47:42 [hometext] => This poem was written 5 years ago and is part of a series of poems which bear its name. It is about the healing of the heart [bodytext] => The touch of a hand heals the broken heart
and reminds me of my promise made
I go back to that vase the broken pieces of glass
Let's glue it back together again;
This was the part i called friendship
This was the heart that I gave
Smashed and depleted yet beating
I hold it in my hands again
This was the part i called holy
the part that would save me from harm
I glue it to the first shard called friendship
and now i have friendship with God
This is the shard that was serving
this was the part I displayed
The part of the vase that faced outward
It's now going back to its place
Gently as time passes by
The vase takes on a different role
it once again salvages life
One by one thousands of pieces
Shards of the vase in the trash
get glued back together to save me
so that i know whose that i am
I know that it will not be easy
each piece brings pain and brings joy
On a magical journey it takes me
That one day will bring me back home.

Notes; In all there are 5 poems in the series "A different role" including 1 I wrote this year 3 of them are posted on site they are all based on the healig heart forgiving the ones who hurt it and continuing to do good which makes an impact. Each has its own story for being written and has taught the writer lessons he continues to learn. I hope whoever reads this benifiets from it the way i have. Hmmm I wonder if some rude commenters were 'a better' person 'back then'. ; )

I think this is a really good write, and the comparisions you used are creative and each adds a dimension to your emotive words.
Well done!

Scorp.

This is probably the best concept I've ever seen for a poem on this entire site. It leaves the door open for oh so much and the shards of the vase are just wonderful. I can only imagine how many shards there are, and it was just a fantastic idea that you've come up with here. I don't know how else to put it. It's just such an original idea that lets you speak volumes about your own life and experiences, and how they just intertwine to produce the current individual. Just awesome, you get five stars for this one.

Apparently great minds think alike. I can definitely see the similarities between our poems, but yours is much superior to mine. As always, I admire your way with words. Thank you for sharing, for it serves to teach those who are touched by it.

2 Corinthians 9:10 And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness: for when I am weak, then am I strong. In other words, Let go and let God!
I know that is how your vessel was put back together even without your having said so. PTL
God Bless!
