Extended Stay

Rush to catch the morning
the sun has begun its' stay
memories flood the adorning
all the senses are decayed.
Breezes rustle the grounded leaves
the clouds have gone astray
sanity rears its' head so peeved
an empty spirit is delayed.
History repeats itself once again
along the block of child's play
all walk by and miss their cue
blood runs thinner than the bay.
Brutal honesty is all by choice
the skin can't stand to be filleted
check off the stones one by one
until the colors turn to grey.
The fires from youth are vanquished not
arrive and expect what may
let the flow of tears fall down
then all who can shall pay.
All homecomings are overdue
like a comet riding the ray
invisable as you've always been
only now there is a say.
Rest here for just one moment
maybe in this place you'll find a way
no one can show you how to live
and only you can seize back the day.

Great poem. I think your thoughts come through well in this. I agree with much of what you have written |
