Dodie

Contributed by Lin54 on Tuesday, 27th September 2005 @ 02:29:38 PM in AEST
Topic: PetPoems

In mem'ry of a cat of mine,
Whose precious mem'ry is lost in time.
A mask upon her face she wore
And Dodie was the name she bore.

We got her as a kitten
When someone said 'good riddens'
Then we took her home with us
And we gained a kitten plus.

Her meow that night was loud
We found her a friend and how
Then quiet she and Chaquita were
And sleep is remembered in a blur.

Then the excitement of moving came
From an apartment to country tame
And the mistake of letting them out
Which caused us chasing them round the house.

Eight short months have come and passed by
Since a kitten to a cat died
When she ventured on the road
The end of her story was told.

Sorry about your loss. It is very hard to lose a pet, especially unexpectedly, like you did...I keep my cat indoors for that very reason. I work with animals, and have seen far too many cats injured or killed after being struck by a car...It's terribly sad. I hope you have plenty of fond memories of your kitty.
Nice job with this tribute.

Scorp.

I am sure Dodie was much loved...sorry about your loss...pets are so loyal to their owners....so think of those memories....I too have lost an old cat...and still reflect on her life in our lives...
thanks for submitting

That was sad. I know she was well loved by your words. Even though no cat will replace her I hope you did get another.

Sad poem Linda, evidencing directly how experience shapes our feelings, in turn giving form to one's emotional and intellectual life, beautifully written RL
