my muscles unused, I can only crawl.

My face is grey, my hands cold.
my brain numb, only 14 years old.

Why do I live strapped down to my bed,
the doctors searching for thoughts in my head.

The darkness has taken all that I know,
though cut at the wrists my blood does not flow.

The demon is master to all that I speak,
my visitors frequent, six to seven a week.

But here in my cell no windows no light,
I've lost my strength too tired to fight.

The illness has won, I no longer talk,
no future to come if I can not walk.

But what is this feeling; a warmth, no more dark.
and now I can hear birds sing and dogs bark.

The sunshine has frightened away what was here,
the thing that awakened the roots of the fear.

The flowers are blooming, the room no longer cold,
I start to live, just fourteen years old.
