Array ( [sid] => 106040 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Guardian [time] => 2005-09-19 20:13:48 [hometext] => [bodytext] => I was just a little girl and you left me to become a woman on my own
You said it was for my own good.
You promised one day we'd be together again when your life was no longer in disarray.
You promised one day I'd understand, I was just a little girl
I did not understand.
The impact it had you could never comprehend and to this day you'd make yourself forget.
When you WERE around, it was the most magical feeling in the world.
To be in your arms and be loved by you was like no other.
You were my protector, my defender, my mother.
I was just a little girl and you left me to become a woman on my own.
To protect and defend myself when I needed you the most.
You were the only one who guarded me, my guardian
yet you ended up leaving me too; a habit which became second nature for you.
I'd grow up to wish you left but once and for all instead of coming back to steal pieces of me and building false hopes then breaking down the wall.
I continually lost you to him or it or yourself or whatever it was that made you leave over and over and over again.
I was just a little girl
and you left me to become a woman, or maybe nothing at all.
I adored you and looked up to you, my guardian.
You said one day I’d understand.
One day is here, my woman, my friend.
Sometimes it's hard to call you mother
for lost days in between the years.
But, you’re still every woman I want to be.
Admittedly the mother, the child inside of me is searching, but still cannot see.

You have a real knack for delivering a memorable ending to your writes. You told this bluntly, yet clearly full of emotion and turmoil. I like the way you delivered this poem, and I can relate in some ways, and I suppose I like it for that reason too. Well done.
