what I did to cause you pain, all the empty promises have no refrain.
I wish I could turn back the past and add just one more chapter to the ending of the book.
I yearn to show you that I am capable of loving the right way.
Despite your dismay, I could actually be thankful for the love you felt and realize that I deserve it as much as the next.
But, the clock tics fast and time came and past, and with it did that feeling that once filled your heart and
slowly I realize, no longer is my memory wanted in any part.

I know this feeling well.

"I gave to you my friendship
I gave to you my love
I tried to pull down stars from the heavens above
Yes I've made mistakes
and i've repented of them all

Over all
I've given you my heart"

This quote is from a song i have been working on for almost 10 years. It hurts too much to finish it. Your poem reminds me of how loved ones have shunned me sometimes, Maybe i deserved it but it still hurts. All we can do is grow from it and move on hoping we will get another chance one day. Thanks for sharing this. The name of the song i quoted is said in the last two lines.

I feel so sad when I read this. Loving the right way is so tricky cause it sometimes seems to be different every day.

Wow great ending there, it has that 'ouch' factor. Well expressed emotions throughout this piece, and written in a way many can identify with.
