Our skin is not the same
Grew up in different places
Didn’t even know his name

We never met till boot camp
There training night and day
We formed this mighty bond
That none can take away

Sent to fight for freedom
Afghanistan and Iraq
No matter how fierce the battle
He always had my back

And now he lies there broken
He’s left this world for another
In my arms I’ll take him home
He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother

Powerful write here. Bonds forged to never be forgotten. He will live on in your memory. I do wish daily life and bonds could be forged like that here in our country instead of racism and bigotry. After all, we are all brothers and sisters in a way. Differences in each of us only makes life more interesting. You are a strong writer.

Blessings.
Rita

The bonds of brotherhood, forged at boot camp, are so powerful and deep. They can never be broken. This testament to a fallen brother is deeply touching -emotionally overwhelming. Thanks for posting this gem!
