A muscular anthem.
A lust of earth.
A cry in the mind
of triumph and fear!

"From your acre of mist and musing,
you will 'daredevil' your way to us again-
..makeshift..refugees seeking asylum...unpolitic-"

New Orleans.
Proud's vast sinking Hell-
within a country that spewed Faulkner and Wolfe..
..that shot Lincoln again
while Whitman wept in abscence.

From a deep, dark pool of a city,
you revisit Atlantis..as deeply divided
as from an under-sea thought..
..the Gulf States..

New Orleans.
Give us this day, your former greatness..
..the Quarter, Canal and Golden Eagle.
By the grace of God, shall we be struck color-blind.

New Orleans.
Give us now, your graciousness of strength..
..a Golden Eagle to the sun

From a place of little latitudes
we come on a wing and pagan prayer...
(((and a rage of rattled bones!)))

New Orleans.
Your summer is burning in my eyes..
the world groans in GIGANTIC birth!!
Government could be less of steel
and more of soul..
..pour out a little peace??

And at the end, for the living, a tired smile...
from eyes to the smile of the next-
..just enough to see.

Emotional thoughts.

And another triumphant write from you....
now is the time for us to ban together and prevail as humankind...

Touching pleas, Billy thanks for sharing...
(such a generous soul you are)

The outpouring of human kindness has restored my waning faith in mankind. What the government could not do, the people have with love and caring and hugs and homes. There is so much being given here in Dallas alone we are having to send it on to San Antonio and Galveston and other evacuee centers. The brotherhood that had died is alive again and it brings tears of joy to all, no matter the skin color or social level. Human to human is all that matters. Why is it so hard for the govt? Rita

Powerful and moving words. It refreshes to see something more than well-wishings for every varied status of the city's soul - this is a desire to see the greatness, the goodness, not the mere, indeterminate presence of the place.

May we all see such! I applaud you for your continuing care and effort, my friend.

Andrew

I agree with Rita. The Gov'e around here sucks. Texas has given, and now we and they(new Orleans) rely on others.! No shelters are available here.......Host familes throught ut.......Seen some today. yes, i do relise ALL are helping, be it clothes, food, and donations............But the GOV'T could help and should of helped..............more.~!!!!!!!!! I dont understand it, but guess I never will. Very nice and heart filled write. the more we put with wrtings, the more ppl will do. Shows how much pl can pull together.

Always
