that takes flavor from the act.
Today I can weep for 'em
and tomorrow, call myself a fool;
yielding to the after-tiredness of indulgence.

What I do and regret today,
I'll do and regret tomorrow..

and whatever other tomorrow I may see
with undiminished intensity.

Sin- on a grand scale, wouldn't be so bad:
three dimensional, auditory, visual, cinemascopic sin
with a beat and boom and bang to it.
Sin as Biblical as Saul struck blind
and Magdalen's breast curving over the dawn.

It is the inch by weary inch
and antiseptic, deodorized, medically proven,
behind-closed-doors and closed circut
do-it-yourself type of sin
that sucks a man dry..
..as dry as a well, sucked orange-
gathering poor, wriggled, eel-like thoughts
into the wet and ragged net
of his dull iniquities.

A glass of fine Merlot can render solace..

and even at today's price is cheaper
than a full confession.

wow.......what a powerful poem of self-reflection.

I loved the way you referred to Bible characters, I thought that was cool and added to the power..providing examples and all.

Billy, I could really sense your frustration and the hold of sin...I totally get that and understand.

...sin is TORTUre for sure..

Awesome, dear friend.

This was a stellar write, different to your usual style but amazing still..

Have hope you are a strong man, I know it lol

Sins are human, humans are fallible, fallibility is foolish, so we a fools who are human who sin. Childish? No, just human. Merlot is a nice tonic to relax one's guilt for a while. At least until we gain enough strength to begin again, the sins. Excellent write.

Rita

Wow...

Well, I'm not quite sure what to say about this aside from the fact that I can't stop reading it.

Those last few lines really hit me, in fact, most of it did.

Great write.

My dearest Billy,
A totally deep, sad and emotional write.
Through ur words I feel ur pain and suffering.
We are all human Billy, we all sin. I have sins that haunt me still 'til this day. I hope u find the strength within u to conquer whatever's keeping u down. I believe in u Billy. U can overcome this.

"There are many things in life that you simply cannot do anything about. Foremost among these are things that have already happened.
Even if you still bear the scars from it, the past no longer exists - except as a memory if you choose to recall it. And even that memory fades if you concentrate on now, and what lies ahead."

Talent at its best. Hope things get better 4 u.
much love from ur devoted fan,
Sue, Dreamer

You said it! I could not agree more with this piece.

It is the inch by weary inch
and antiseptic, deodorized, medically proven,
behind-closed-doors and closed circut
do-it-yourself type of sin
that sucks a man dry..

This is what we all must deal with, I suppose. Those sins with the far-reaching effects, the ones that stick in the storyteller's mind, were, I've a notion, only the buildup of a long and weary mile of the "lesser" sins. Man doesn't get the luxury of ever really sinning well...

And sometimes merlot is hard to come by.

Well done! I relate, and enjoyed this thoroughly.

Andrew

A wonderful write. I think we can all find something that speaks to us and for me it was this passage:

It is the inch by weary inch
and antiseptic, deodorized, medically proven,
behind-closed-doors and closed circut
do-it-yourself type of sin
that sucks a man dry..

Incredible truth and very revealing.

Be Well,
Loende
