A sunset holds no beauty
For it only foreshadows the pain
The night will surely bring
Food brings no pleasure
It leaves a bitter taste
For it only sustains the life you hate
Laughter, brings no joy
For it only echoes in the hollow chambers
That comprise your heart
Drinking offers no relief
For it only agitates the demons
That hover just beneath the surface
The Sun brings no happiness
For it cannot bring light to
The darkness that capers within
Friendship brings no comfort
For nothing can be fun
When your heart is torn to shreds
Darkness is the only form of relief
For it hides your tear stained cheeks
And your razor kissed wrists [comments] => 6 [counter] => 178 [topic] => 32 [informant] => bobotheclown [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 15 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

Ah, cheri, I must agree with ladyfawn... You HAVE outwritten yourself with this piece... It overflows with heart-wrenching emotion as if it were my own... as if... you were speaking of my past. I believe many can relate to this horrendously honest and beautiful masterpiece... The sorrow and hopelessness that you have eloquently expressed suffocates me, and I just hope that you don't feel this way, my friend... *Massive huggles* Exquisite in its brief splendor and vivid images. But of course, LOVED this, Joel! Apologies for this comment being so late, :P. You know I get around to your writes sooner or later, lol. Much love and happines being sent your way!! Live, love and laugh, honey! PM/email me whenever you like, I'm always here for you, sweetheart. Excellent write, can't wait to see more of you, mon ami! :). All my love. Forever,

Your dear friend/avid fan,

~*Stephy*~

I think you may just be the master of this type of write. Your emotions of anguish and anger fly from the page and directly into the soul.
Very well done
Barkeep!

Bloody brilliant, brilliant write! It rings so true to those who are familiar with the pain and despair of depression and suicidal tendencies. I have to be honest Joel, there are few who can write this sort of poem effectively, and even fewer who leave the reader with a resonating thought or idea, and you are the latter and much more. You have a stupendous talent as a poet and wordsmith and I will always take pleasure in reading your poetry

Dan
