Some ugly colored robes
Her face I searched
The people I probed

Graduation has come and gone
But still I can't stop thinking
About her face and that song
So I keep on drinking

Forget that time and place
Try to forget everything
But I'm still haunted by her face
The memories are like a bee sting

Try to kill the brain cells that keep time
But nothing I do can kill them
The doctors are saying I'm far from fine
All I can say is screw 'em

Can't move on and I cannot hide
This is what I'm gonna be known for
No one will know that I tried
No one will know If I'm gonna soar

Winged glory or a fiery fate
Which will it be
No one knows, but everyone speculates
They can't see that I'm free

Drank it all away
Died in vein
Is that all you can say
I was insane

The angels aren't singing a lullaby
No whiskey tears are being shed
I don't see a hero's goodbye
For the life that I've led

Years out of the service
I died a broken hero
I made everyone nervous
