Two voices fight a war of
words in my mind....

The softest of the pair claims
to be acquainted with the heart of me-
meekly but firmly encouraging
an altercation between my two selves,
The equal parts of determination and
cowardice which make me whole.

The louder, seemingly dominant presence
only admits association to cold within me-
Boisterously demanding that I step aside,
allowing ill will to battle it out-
Pit my inner child and thriving adult against
one another in a match to the death.

Which voice deserves my respect?
Can the angel in me survive the trek through this
unbecoming, blasphemous world strewn before me?
Does a tender soul name me mighty or weak?
Or does my devil permit all the joy I access,
warming my path with fire and brimstone?
Dare the two come together and extinguish
fervent flames?
Or does their reconciliation dictate a
lifetime of mediocrity of the mind,
absence of emotion,
strengthened by all that it lacks.

"Pit my inner child and thriving adult against
one another in a match to the death."

..these are some of the most amazing words
I've ever read juliette..
and only find it necessary to say that
if these were the only words of this write..
it would still be most magnificent!

Sincerely..

B
