Array ( [sid] => 104158 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => A Cool Evening’s Inspiration [time] => 2005-08-22 14:59:17 [hometext] => The rhyme scheme of this one is really weird- but I meant for it to be that way, to give it more of a relaxed feel. It's supposed to be like someones last words. [bodytext] => The moon shone bright tonight
Lighting up this sky and these aimless passer-bys
And I know it shone for me
Lord you smiled on me tonight
And I never want to shut my weary eyes.

Life was hard today
It stretched like horizons
And snapped like a whip
I heard forevermore echoes from dawn until dusk
And the funeral bell tolls for me and my heart
And my last foot-hold on safety that crumbled apart.

If my life flashed before my eyes
All I saw was the curtain falling
For fireworks were cracking and they struck up the band
And my grand finale has at long last began
The dead-man walking soon walks no more.

I was scarce for breath
I looked to the heavens to bury their stares
All is hazed but the stars piercing holes in the black
Lord you mended these eyes and I’ll never go back.

I’m no longer blind like these mockers surrounding me
Though my past treads their paths
And their ways are so familiar
But for now I’m content to let my heartbeats grow few
As God smiles down on me with the light of the moon. I really love this poem. It's so well written.

"All is hazed but the stars piercing holes in the black
Lord you mended these eyes and I’ll never go back"

That's definitely my favorite line.
Great job!
Take Care,
Lizzie
