How do you help a friend indeed.
You can talk, you can pray, you can hope, it’s true,
but nothing you try can chase the blues.

You can offer hugs and to hold her tight,
you can offer a shoulder to cry on at night.
But when this friend is a world away
nothing much matters to change her day.

I know exactly how she feels,
for I walked in her shoes back a few years.
the hurt and the pain, the anger and wrath;
the need for release in a red tinged bath.

But kiddo’s and mum’s, and all of the rest
make her put forth her very false best.
I honestly pray with all of my heart
They will be enough to make a new start.

I can relate to this very well. When the heart is broken all we want to do is be by ourselves so that no one sees us cry.
