Laura my friend,
A very succinct poignant powerful write and message. Your willingness to experiment with different unique styles of writing is brave....yes I think it takes a certain amount of courage to be unique. And rather then "stubborness", I think it is your courage and inner strength of your spirit that helps you persevere
