Array ( [sid] => 103692 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Cardiac Cell Striations [time] => 2005-08-17 00:54:40 [hometext] => This poem was an assignment for a class I took last semester. This is the revised version of the original and I actually really like this poem even though I had no clue what I was putting down on my paper. Full of angsty goodness!!!! [bodytext] => Your callused hands scribble iconic hearts
across my stomach as they travel
d
o
w
n
towards my jeans, stopping above
the waistline.
I
love
you
flows like Pennzoil
from your lips as you
fasten your hooks around my belt loops,
thumbs fiddling with the button.
You’re so romantic.
I breathe counterfeit exultations
d
o
w
n
your neck, encouraging you to continue
your quest. Fabric sliding, hands meandering, hips bucking
while I dig perfectly manicured fingernails
into your back.
Motions are rehearsed,
repeated,
rendered void.
I’ll lie here tonight,
convince myself you’re just another easy
*****,
and imagine that you are someone I could truly love: a musician, an artist, or
your brother.
Anyone but you…
