But unfortunately couldn’t look into each other’s eyes
We said our farewells on the phone
And from that moment I felt so alone
As you thought, you know I cried
Went downstairs just to hide
Slept with your t-shirt to make believe you were close
And savored your scent with each and every dose
Woke up a few hours later to a face I couldn’t recognize
Eyes so blood shot, skin all blotchy, trust me it’s no lie
Going out all the time, night and day
Just trying to keep busy so that my heart doesn’t pay
This whole week has gone by extremely slow
But my friends check up on me to make sure I’m not too low
Although I am hurting, I don’t regret a thing
Because when you come home, I can’t wait for all the joy and happiness you’ll bring

i know how it is and it doesnt get any easier.I have been 3 wars.2 brothers fought in the same war in 91,2 diffrent branches of military, somehow found each other 5 times across the desert. Now my 3rd brother has been gone a month serving a 2nd tour, after already being there a year. It is never easy being the one left behind b/c u r ALWAYS going to find more questions then answers.Getting through each day, everyone finds their own ways of coping,we may not be soilders but we ARE indeed united by heart, spirit, hope and prayer!I will light a candle for you.Hugs,Angie

See that's what I'm talking about, the more you miss him while he's gone the happier you'll be when he comes back. Waiting isn't a fun thing at all but after awhile you back into the swing of things, and before you know the wait is over and everything is how is supposed to be again...loved the poem, it really lets the reader feel the longing in your heart, keep writing :)

A lot of feeling in this poem, so much heartbreak in so few words, but the meaning is so clear. Hang on in there, love is a powerful drug.

Well, it's be a little longer than that now and I miss you more than ever babe. Thanks for the poems, I love them. It really means a lot to me to have something to comeback to my tent to and smile about. I actually print them out and tape them up in my tent and carry one with me in my pocket so you're always close to me. I miss you very much baby. I'll be home eventually so we can get on with forever. Love you so much. Take care and talk to you soon.
