So quiet and white, I can hear myself think
100 people scream the same;
“Loving you may never be enough
To save you”

These people are spending their lives with the dying
But we’ll all cry the same when they pass

Your smiles are all blank, why wont you respond
This place must’ve sucked all of life from you
I can see you stalling death
For those trapped in disease

You must be a hero
So where’s the parade, where’s the fame

How quickly we forget that we’re here for so short
Of a time that we must make last

Fall forward into this place, you may never get back up

By the bedside, we spend our lives
With some who speak, others wont wake
Together we drip away, it's silent
No one needs to see

Staring at the cracks appearing in the walls
That start to show from your eyes to your toes
This place will fall with the faithful inside
Praying, watching, hoping

Leave, and love happiness
Stay and force smiles
Inside we’re broken
Outside we shine

Heroes, heroes, everywhere

Splendid write. I have spent a lot of time in hospitals and many many heroes walk the halls day and night. The closest playing field I can even think of is a war zone. Heroes, everyone in their own right.

I would hope that sobering moments such as these would help us to ease the passing of the dying and give comfort to those wo remain.
