it deafens my hearing with sounds of remorse
I missed something in my childhood
and in my adulthood, I give it someone else

I walk down the long road toward the beach
I watch the golfers walk with their sons
I stop for a while and I watch them
I sigh and then I move on

The sun is bright and there is no shade
only the feint breeze the whisper on the wind
They, for a moment blow on my loneliness and I forget partially why I am sad

I hear it as I turn the corner by the college
the calling of the shore
the voice of home and, the waves singing songs

Like spires they stand before me
ten foot jagged rocks with cracks down the sides
I toss my back pack over my shoulder as I climb
Then I see them, smooth round stones on which to sit

I sigh as I watch the water roll in and out
hope comes to me and loneliness leaves
I take out my pen and I write a song

My friend is the waves
My joy is the cool breeze
My hope is tomorrow
and my love is my father

I am humming a tune when I leave
the silence is quieted by noise
and when I get home my friend is waiting

"Where have you been" he asks
"My quiet place" I reply
"I've been calling you for the last hour
"Want to go see a movie" he asks
I place my back pack on my bed
quietly humming the song of an answered prayer.

Note; I wrote 3 other poems that carry the same title as this one that I will not be posting on the site. This poem gives a glimspe of my surroundings and one of the 2 places I go to write or to sort things out with myself
