drink yourself into oblivion
until your so unaware
that you cant even move, let alone think

before you pass out you cry
every night
soaking your pillow
you think we dont hear

the next morning soon comes
and with it a pounding head
bloodshot eyes
you think we cant tell

you take a shot maybe three maybe four
to help you get through you day
until you can come home
and hit the bottle to solve your problems

your numb when you drink
think your kids dont need to eat
stay drunk, and maybe the pain wont return
your afraid of the world, of yourself, or being sober

you blind yourself of the world
of your children, your life
and in your own pain
dont seem to see ours

see our broken hearts
and teary eyes
every time you stumble through the door
we hurt to

maybe someday you'll realize
i hope one day you'll see
that while trying to fix your broken heart

Wow, this poem was sad, though it was excellent, it crawled deep into my mind, and the words got me to imagine how you felt and what was happening through out the poem as I read it, I felt the pain, no body should ever drink themselves to death like that, I am sorry that it happened, or that it is happening, I hate alchohal abuse it is not good at all, your problems never go away, you should just be happy and try to deal with it, killing yourself does not solve anything it only makes more people around you hurt, I loved this poem, I loved the ending as well, keep writing. Loves and HuggLes. The-brokn-rose.

so sad yet a masterpeice as many have to deal with alcaholics. I was once married to one. My father drank when I was younger but he became a reformed person one day and made up for all the times he drank.
maybe u should give this to your mom. it might just be what it will take to wake her up and make her wonna try again.
god bless u and I'll put u both in my prayers.
luv, huggs, strength, prayers,
emy

Children should noy have to go thru this. My parents were both drug addicts, no matter what the addiction, its all the same. Unfortunately my parents left it too long to change, one day maybe I'll be more forgiving, for now I have a saying "Too little, too late, I'v turned from hurt to hate".

This poem was amazing. I have to say, the greatest poems only come when the author has gone through a lot of pain...
