Ghost-town of Freedom

We shouldn’t have to dream of suicide
And all those morbid things
While change is that faithful stranger
Waiting for the opportune moment
Simply waiting
Why don’t we call his name
That is if we even remember it anymore.
We have been too content with our silence
Silence is agreement
Afraid to take our stand
To become that stranger.
We search for someone to take action
But blindly ignore the obvious
We are the only candidates
Will anyone brave the storm
The persecution of being a leader
In these times of turmoil
To become the victim.
Who is more worthy of adoration
The mocker
Or the martyr
Those six feet under are more truly alive
Than we who are told what we think
And believe it
For fear that to have emotions
Is pain
To die with honor
Is useless
And to help another
Only hurts ourselves.
Those who know no truth
Are easy to deceive.
