Just imagine a world,
Full of green trees and beautiful flowers,
Variety of lovely animals and colorful birds,
A cool refreshing breeze and delightful environs,
Pleasant lakes, seas and smoothly flowing clean rivers,
Imagine cheerful and resplendent people living with all the joys!

Now imagine the anguishing faces of victims
Of wars and violence losing limbs and loved ones,
The skin-covered skeletons,
Suffering from poverty and malnutrition,
The swirling smoke everywhere suffocating the people,
The bodies of people dying of innumerable diseases,
Icebergs melting and drowning the coastal areas,
And then the Earth will be barren and desolate without any life!

Where do you wish to be?
To be in a beautiful world, we have to strive for it!
Let us control our exploding population and wants,
Get rid of animosity between nations or peoples,
Live cordially, without any conflicts or wars,
With no arms and ammunition,
Ensure no injustice to cause terrorism,
Develop a central leadership to resolve all differences,
And understand that righteousness is the basis of a true religion,
Then, there will be no destruction and loss of lives to hear,
No innocents to lose limbs or lives,
No victims to lose homes and loved ones,
And there can be perpetual peace and order!
Let us strive for such a world,
And let all of us realize a beautiful future!

Hello. I am interested in a number of concepts you deploy in your well written and interesting poetic argument for a better world. For example perpetual peace, order, central leadership, no injustice, etc...

Some of these ideas imply a leadership by some (always the privilaged) over others (the less privilaged). Lest we forget, even 'Democracy' is a form of government whereby a rich ruling minority claim legitimacy over a subordinate majority.

Also, the poem led me to ponder the root causes of human conflict, in my view, economic contradictions and exploitation of man by his fellow man. Overcoming such material contradictions will enable humans to begin to cogitate and reason in the context of non-antagonistic contradictions as opposed to antagonistic ones.

To call simply for a change of ideas or conceptions of things and processes is to ignore the material context of reality I think. Such human qualities as righteousness and co-operation are natural qualities embraced by humans thousands of years ago because of their practical utility in propagating the species, not because the species suddenly developed an inexplicable intuition to develop such ideas.

The pursuit of a 'Wonderful World' is a noble aim, but it will never, in my view, be secured merely by pursuing a shift in conceptions divorced from the context of reality.

Colin
