The One

Topic: dedicatedpoems

In this life you only get one
One chance for the warm rays of the sun.
To shine on your face and melt your heart
One that takes your love and from your life will never part.

You may move on and try
But the one love will never say goodbye.
You know it's better to leave it behind
You know that this one has always made you blind.

Blind to the pain they cause you
You know holding on will only make you blue.
So you try anger and you try hate
Try another, you try and wipe clean the slate.

However, nothing works, nothing helps you forget
The way the one made you feel, the way they kept your smile lit.
The warmth you felt in their arms, the passion in the first kiss
Deep inside you know these are the things you will always miss.

So you'll spend your whole life trying to forget the one
And you'll love others along the way, you'll love them a ton.
But there will always be a place in your heart
For the love that holds on and will never part.
