My dear sweet Sophie, I am but a simple man
Mine is not a magic pen that generates golden words
My shelf is not laden with Mr. Whitman or Mr. Yeats
I speak in a common tongue, so that is how I write
Not with the pomposity of an open thesaurus at my right

Maybe if I write enough, with enough big words
my pages will stack all the way to heaven
So as to climb up and find the air is way too thin,
become dizzy and fall back to earth

My feelings are truly felt no matter how trite
I’m not here to impress you half a world away
Nor am I here to cast stones or duel ten paces with pistols
Although I prefer to tell my opponent it is twelve paces
to give myself the advantage

We could argue the bleakness of the world and the absurdity of the cosmos
Or perhaps which came first the chicken or the egg
I really don't give it much thought, both taste good
properly seasoned and cooked

My conflict resides in the fact of why can’t I ever find my keys
when I am already late
Does an evil key troll come to hide them?
Why is it when looking for said keys do I look
in the same place five or six times hoping with each search
they will magically appear

Ahhh, my foo dog sits here at my feet snoring
What it must be like to have no worries like he
Although the drawbacks are seeing in black and white
and making the acquaintance of another by sniffing their butt

Oxycontin ...........
Now there is good and evil wrapped up in one easy time-released pill
Problem is, when the original disease is cured
you have a totally new one to contend with
Same problem with chocolate chip cookies and brownies

Maybe we need more warning labels
We can put them on the foreheads of stupid people
Warning: complete and total smeghead approaching
Please stay back 30 feet from this complete and total twit

Don't get me wrong, in this rant it is not my intention to transmit rage
I guess its time to wipe the rabid foam from my lips
This is just the philosophy of a rambling fool
All names have been changed to protect the innocent
All persons depicted here are a work of fiction
Any resemblance to persons living or dead
will just have to get over it

I leave you with the longest word in the English language... look it up
Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanokoniosis

Bravo, my fellow poet of the common man, Encore!!!! I see no sense in writing words no one can understand. Abstract poetry sucks. Every one pretends to understand but no one really does, not even the poet. I prefer simplicity, brownies and ice cream. Excellent rant, right on rave. At least I understood every word you said and did not have to spend half an hour trying to figure it out; which I usually don't. I just go to another poem that I can understand. Splendid write.
