Rip the sun from behind clouds
Forcing thoughts to fall like rain
Evening enters dressed for the occasion
Her soft purple skirts billowing behind her
Erasing the heat of the day
Sensuous steps meant to seduce
She refreshes and strokes the senses
Promising sleep without dreams
But the hammer of restlessness pounds
Relentless beating of heart and mind
Clock ticks without thinking
While the solemn moon looks down
Offering cool advice and condolences
Bed becomes a prison for the soul
Contemplating each daily sin and vice
Considering tomorrows chores again
What torture is this visited nightly….
Insomnia

My God Gaille....this is perfection. I felt each word and yes, this is exactly what it's like to lay in bed wishing for sleep but knowing it's going to be a long night of roaming thoughts of " what might have beens".
Very well done
