Array ( [sid] => 102164 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Soul Rot [time] => 2005-07-27 21:30:14 [hometext] => A lot of my poems I get inspiration for by listening to music, this one is no different [bodytext] => I cock my fist and shoot it neatly threw the window
Thousands of shards float for a heartbeat before my escape is known
They've locked me in this glass prison studded with pretty diamonds
Look your best, sit up straight, no one wants to see you crying
Sit, primp, pose, stay
These are the subliminal commands I hear everyday
But tonight I win, tonight I escape
Hurry now, I escape my spirit's rape

I've lived through all the pain and all the lies
I've been where you wake up and wish that in your sleep you would've just died
No one hears my screams
No one saw my life split at the seams
A glistening veil had been draped over my box
That prison of see-through walls and indestructible rocks

I flee into the night, my preppy sweater and ankle length skirt ditched
My war paint: My eyeliner, my black heels, my mini skirt pleats just barely an inch
All that is trendy and sexy I don with glee
Into the party my glory is now seen

Touch me, you can, I'm actually here
No more fantasies, no more hopes and dreams
I'm actually here, for real and for truly
And I joke that it's better to be fashionably late than early
They can't catch me now, they can never bring me back
My life is finally on the right track

I'll live this life whether they like it or not
I live
I breath
I love
I see
Never again will my soul rot [comments] => 6 [counter] => 162 [topic] => 13 [informant] => Kitty06 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )

nice write. a real "screw you" to anyone that tries to be controlling or restricting. very emotional, too.

just curious, what kind of music is it that you listen to?

o-o Beautiful. I love your metaphors. But also how you changed tones a bit from start to finish. It started out angry and ended rather defiant.

I'll live this life whether they like it or not

^ That is the attitude to have right there. ^ ^ It's a great state of mind, one that I have recently found myself in. "***** the world if they can't understand. I'm going to do what makes me happy."
