I also wrote this using the same word to rhyme which is very hard to do. [bodytext] =>

BREAKING ELASTIC LEAVES SCARS

In the 50's we had elastic in our panties,
Everyone had elastic in their panties,
We didn't know any other way to hold up
our panties!
Worked well, was economical, until
the elastic broke, down went our panties!

I was a Senior in High School in 1955.
We all had elastic in our panties in 1955.
To sharpen a pencil required much energy in 1955
We didn't have electric pencil sharpeners in 1955

I loved the old hand cranked pencil sharpeners
I couldn't sit still so, would visit the sharpeners
Much stress released on those super sharpeners
Pencils break during tests, nice break those sharpeners!

Dramatically, and with much vigor I was sharpening,
I felt them go.
When elastic breaks, panties fall down, only way
for them to go.
I quickly grabbed them with a knee hold. now no
place for them to go.
Very carefully, daintily, walked to my seat,
didn't dare let go.

So far "No Show" the bell rings, I'm usually up first.
"Come on Connie let's go! I reply, "I have to sit here first."
"Go ahead you guys, I'll catch up, this time you go first."
The teacher is watching me, wondering why? Connie
is always to the door first?

When the elastic breaks in your panties in 1955,
does it leave scars?
Of course it does, my psyche has many scars.
Mentally I'll never be the same many brain scars
And my knees the pressure required--permanent scars!

Did anyone every find out your panties dropped?
No, I can honestly say no one ever knew they dropped.
The minute the teacher left, I stood up, naturally they dropped
Like flash lightening I removed my feet after they dropped!

I've tried to write poetry right down to today.....
But I keep repeating myself like this poem today.
Elastic breaking leaves scars for life, even affects me today.
Thank God for replacing elastic, and hand operated sharpeners today!

Oh dear, Connie. How traumatic for you. I have to agree with Emy though. NOW it is funny. Then I would have cried with you.

Connie, so glad you managed to *knee*tly hold it together till the end. This made me smile, but I know I would've been mortified had this happened to me...thanks for lightening up the mood around here as of late.

How this reminded me of my granny's elastic. One day we were on an escalator when her knickers came sliding down to her ankles yes they had snapped lol. She couldn't bend down to pick them up and on the last step they got trapped she had to step out of them. Went home knickerless.

Superb

Love Angelxxx

Well I'm old enough to remember the hand pencil sharpeners, anyhow. This was cute and entertaining. Yup, we all have scars left over from school days.
Loved this, you tell a good story. Blessings, J.
