[bodytext] => The church clock chime midnight. Her daddy's not home yet, The moonlight and streetlights Break the cold, consistant darkness. People stroll from darkness into light And out again. This povert stricken city is home And from her tiny, shabby bedroom Through the grimy, broken window She looks up at the vast, black sky But sees no stars. Light pollution. She has never known the stars Never clearly seen the angels' lights. Her stars are but the headlights of cars Speeding towards unknown detinations. The traffic light turns from red to green. One car roars to life. Light glints of tinted windows. Daddy comes round the corner Walking between light and dark. "Starlight, starbright, first star I see tonight." Nearly home now. In the shadows now. "I wish I may, I wish I might" The church clock chimes half-past now. "Have the wish I wish tonight." Daddy's lying crumpled on the ground now.
