Sits on my fire escape balcony
Perched like a gargoyle watching her colony
Wing span extended a flaunt of a talent
A beak distinct as the yellow meets the rainbow of feathers

A stone
Weathered
Surface pounded by erosion
Eaten away by the rain
Chipped and broken
Thrown to the bottom of the muddy lake
Once a pebble skidding along the surface
On the fifth hop in dropped to the depths
Rests amongst the weeds that float back and forth
Hidden in the dirt that bubbles with plate tectonic force

A rose
Red and luscious
With a stem so bold and firm
As the pellets join a circle to the open center
Where the nature mates to produce its nectar
Has become dislodged by the lack of water
The lack of solar powered regenerative disorder
A gem of a flower the red beauty is devoured by selfishness
