New hope, new trust, new faith, new selflessness-- Forgot that foul-heart shadows skulk in light. Soon loving words in silence died unborn. Cruel murder words hung smirking in the air Gorging on enmity. Your stone-hard anger's hurtful, fitful blows Shattered that trance of spring - and all is gone. Did I but dream that two can be as one? Is self-delusion my one constant friend? And I am old again. Old fears, old hurts, despair and selfishness, Beat wailing hopes and dreams back to the dark.
