ANTS AND ELEPHANT

embedded deeply in the crowded jungle
so far removed, not even a safari noble.
look to the ant and all his activity each day,
teamwork, as tiny as they can be, build chalet

ants are not aware that they are small and weak.
carry many times their weight mighty and unique.
mounds of houses constructed each week their homes
rambling elephant roams, nothing left--like flattened tome

"This has got to stop." their leader cried out in rage!
"We work from dawn into the night, this is an outrage!!
Now fellow ants, brothers and sisters, I have a plan.
Next time elephant passes to squash our houses we'll attack
like big mighty he-man!

"He's coming! He's coming, feel the ground shaking?
Don't jump until you can see the opening in his trunk blinking
Jump now you mighty ants, jump right now, and we'll beat him up.
Steady as you go men, hang on for your lives, give him a huge wallop!

elephants have thick elephant skin, felt no sting, but tickle...
he began to shake, and laugh, raise his trunk to bugle joyful
all the ants except one fell instantly down, broken leg and limb
in unison they began to chant to the one ant on his neck.....
"Choke him, Choke him!"

"When I was young, I was ego bound.
I'd ride an elephant e'vn fall to the ground.
Now that I'm old my ego got up and went.
I'm the elephant now, thick skinned, ego? what's that?
I shake a little, easier to be content!"

a period of shedding shells; the shell of ambition,
the shell of material accumulations and possessions,
the shell of the ego"

I am pleased to be the first to read and comment on this. Once again
I loved the subject matter of your poetry. Whenever I see your
SN, I know that I am in for a treat. I have a similar love and appreciation
for nature that I see few in our world seem to have. It is so refreshing
to read your poetry. Beautiful and touching it was.
Thank you.

~Kara

I love the poem. The pictures are amazing. But the music made the entire thing work perfectly.

Truly amazing work!
Your great love for animals of every kind shines through in every single line.
How well you understand to make the best of it making capital of the Lord's delightful creatures.
I just love elephants. To develop an elephant skin takes practice and assiduity. But is to berecommended as indispensible at times.
Let's practice then! :)
Enjoyed this very much and the pictures are so well chosen to enhance the work.
Blessings
Warm love

Wow Consue.. this is a great story poem..

Nice write for children.. this is really great.. ty ty..

I know about ants lol. I tackle them a lot.. I watch how they work.. I am fascinated by those small creatures..

Sound can bring the ants out.. so, that elephant thumping around is what does it..

But then again, the elephant charges right over their ground houses lol..

All the elephant needs to do.. if a war breaks out between them, is spray some water on the ground.. then the ants can't come up out of their burrows for a while to attack him lol lol..

Oh this is a fun one.. ty ty..

Great lines. Looking forward to reading rest of your work.
