Array ( [sid] => 101398 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => The Performance [time] => 2005-07-16 22:47:21 [hometext] => This is basically just my take on the last five or so years in American Politics, not really poetry. [bodytext] => It is time that we started asking ourselves, how we can get our nation back on track without the support of the current administration? We cannot waste any more time attempting to convince a leadership that absolutely refuses to believe that anything is wrong. Every word out of their mouths is in disagreement with our understanding of events and it appears as though their language is predetermined and mass marketed long before the events in question occurred.

It is rather obvious that what we are witnessing is a theatre performance of massive proportions and not the well thought out deliberation that it pretends to be. Our nation has apparently entered a new era in which many of our politicians have decided that a good performance is better for their nation than good old-fashioned hard work. I must commend them however on a job well done as they have successfully fooled a great number of Americans thus far. Any actor would be proud to have been a part of such a performance.

As for reality, it is time that we closed the curtains on this performance and got down to the business of governance. Let us cease with the explanations and instead devote our selves to solving these problems. Let’s put Americans back to work, let’s force our citizens to accept that health care is a right of all and not a privilege of the few, let’s take action against those who have violated the laws of war. It is time to get tough and that’s all there is to it. Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
