Endless Thoughts

Suicide

My mind is invaded by endless thoughts
Of how to take my life
My every muscle trembles
As I reach out for that knife
I have never been so scared
Never this afraid
Tears flood into my eyes
As my wrist is pressed into the blade
The blood runs between my fingers
And drips onto the floor
I promise myself that soon
My pain will be no more
The thoughts inside my head
Still running, they won’t stop
I begin to weaken
And my tears turn into sobs
Soaking up the carpet
And streaking down my shirt
My blood escapes me faster now
I pray to Him to end the hurt
I gently close my eyes
And pray for death to creep
I collapse onto the bed
And wait to sleep my final asleep

Yes, severe depression is a life of hell. I went through it about a year ago and all I wanted was to die and leave the pain behind. With medical help I overcame it and have been doing well. My life is much happier again and I hope anyone suffering like that will seek help. This is a well written description of what it can lead too.

I am glad you overcame what ever made you write this. It is tough sometimes to tell yourself that you can go on. Harder even more sometimes to want to. You did well to catch the helplessness felt by some when they reach this point.
