[bodytext] => 'Tis a privilege to be part of the class of 1955.  "REUNION OSCARS" 'Twas a night to be remembered, in the halls of Wheatland High...... Seated were the graduates of 1955, We all sat quietly, waiting for the guest speaker to arrive. Quieter still as he ascends and says, "My Name is Life." "Young people such as yourselves have known me for a very short time. If you really want to live.....enjoy me now, while in your prime. People say I'm a "Hard Taskmaster" I can be extremely cruel, a real "Heart Breaker!" ~*~*~*~*~*~ "I was among the graduates that night. Thinking, "Who is this negative man? he's really up-tight!" Life continues, "I'm like a war you see..... Fierce shootings, lost loved ones, health problems, and mental casualties. Stick with me, and you're soon to see, why it is I spoke so bluntly." "One last thing I have to say." Life said. After fifty years of fighting this war, get in and get out, or you're dead! I'll meet you back here in 2005 with your deserved rewards Stay strong, keep your head down low, prepare for your Oscar awards. ~*~*~*~*~*~ 'Twas a night I shall n'er forget 2005 VFW Hall in Wheatland, we began to sweat. Life, our guest speaker, was soon to arrive. To present our Oscars to each of us--live.  "And the first Oscar goes to Tom..... Your Honesty soothes our feelings like balm.... One beer is all it takes to erase, a quiet man to a "funster" we embrace!" "I, Life, present to a most beautiful Queen, Her King Newt, protective and caring. Lost their daughter to death, hearts bleeding, Your Oscar for enduring extreme hardship and not caving!" "Will Steve Star please rise, Yes, many marriages I surmise, An honorable Oscar to you where you stand. A decent thing you always did..... you asked them for their hand!" "Jim and Kaye Bohl a fine couple indeed. Your Oscar is for dependability high-speed. Lasting and loving marriage, wonderful son. Our admiration you have easily won!" "Dick and Pat McQuisten another lovely two. Lost their first born infant, yet their love remained true. Faith brought them two beautiful children, Oscar for endearing love able to brighten!" Hardworking lady known for her beauty. Mary Ellen what life handed you was certainly not easy. Cared for her ailing mother for 8 years or so. An Oscar for love and caring goes to you my dear Your heart was never shallow!" "Freddie I bow to your grit, and long suffering. A husband you nursed so carefully n'er complaining. 'Stiff upper lip' because you loved him so much, Your Oscar for showing us what 'True Love' is all about--loving touch." "My Oscar this year for Bravery I gladly give, To Larry Mee for his courage to go ahead and try to live. Nursing his loving wife Colleen for years, until she died. Forcing himself to attend our 50th putting wounded heart aside!" "Congeniality Oscar goes to Marlin for sure. Always helping, always smiling, makes us all secure. Your silent kindnesses, your soft spoken thoughtfulness A man of goodness, mildness, n'er any badness." "A Green Oscar to the Green Shirted Shep. Pretty little wife, fought for freedom's sake, foreign war pilot rep. Oscar given for injury along with our gratitude In your classmates eyes, highly valued!" "Generosity this Oscar has written on it's side, Given to Marilyn, many step-children she did preside. Losing a dear daughter to cancer like so many. Buried two beloved children, a husband, and never gave up. Loving life, no matter the cost, happiness with no let up!" Her Oscar reads Unselfish Loving Dedication no debit!" Leroy Synder, "Moose" known for his football. Best all around person, fine fellow, heart not small. Oscar for a Very Fine Man, farmer by trade, Grown children to follow his characteristics, fine example laid." Dottie an Oscar is handed to you for Hospitality. Warm and loving, generous without fault--enough food to feed an Army. Thinking always of others comforts with care, A life filled with hardship, but you overcame dispair, with your friend Joe the photographer*smiles* a very nice man, I do declare!" "June Whinery still as pretty as a picture...... Lived a fine life with her husband James, her charmer. Two children, and 46 years of marriage later, A "Surviving" Oscar for 22 years free of Breast Cancer!" "Educational Oscar to Rand Settell, a spiritual man. Lovely wife. family of eight, reached out with love in your heart, teaching others of God's Plan. Lived a full life that was active and exciting too. Another Oscar labeled "Love" for helping your fellow man do, all that he could do!" "Barbara Holmes, tall slender, could have been a model. Oscar for Beauty in her heart, just look into her eyes kind and gentle. Traveled many a mile with husband Kenneth, an Air Force Lad, Two wonderful sons, worked hard, enjoys retirement, and is glad!" "Please stand Sharon for your Oscar awaits to be given A lady of wonderment, disillusioned at times, but never beaten, Your Oscar is for determination, tenacity, and finally happiness. 'Go West,' Greeley said, Steinback said,"Stay in Montana!" so Sharon did, it brings her gladness!" "This Oscar will go for Humor, and Marv is the best. Beautiful white hair, most are envious, woman impressed. Hard working person for public service of sorts, Long marriage, longevity, pretty little wife, family man with little poodle escorts." "First Oscar for true Wyoming Cowboy down Saratoga way. Devoted little wife, a family man n'er to stray. A "loaner of hats" to ladies in distress. Charles Hiatt, rancher, cowboy dresser, with huge Stetson and all the rest!" "Kind disposition, never takes jokes on himself seriously. David Wedemeyer your Oscar for being keen and funny. Lumber yard in southern Missouri with large family. Pretty wife and children that love you very dearly." "And the last Oscar goes to a fellow named Bill Roff. An Oscar for mischieviousness, in his younger days a motorcycle speed-off. Settled down in his later years, and now has a lovely wife. Still a very sharp dresser, handsome fellow, wonderful life." The writer of this little 'ditty' steps up to take her turn. I receive an Oscar of Thankfulness, for I truly yearn..... To tell each classmate how very privileged I feel, Among brave and courageous souls, not one coward, all have constitutions like strong steel!
