Why is it you I can not find
Some day I hope to give you away
But from me you did stray
I haven’t kept you safe I know
The battle wounds we readily show
I know you are alone somewhere
Bruised and misshapen, fragile and fair
I beg you come back, return to me
I want to keep you safe under lock and key
I want to hide you from the pain and strife
That cut through you like a sharpened knife
I know these are promises made before
Then I let someone knock down your door
I let them trample you to the ground
Till there was nothing left to be found
I don’t blame you for fleeing this place
Leaving nothing, not even the slightest trace
I wish to go back, to change all those things
To know the song a whole heart sings
But the seconds on the clock tick on
Each stroke bringing closer the dawn
The time is spent and can’t be regained
From chasing the wind we must refrain
I can only promise to try my best
To overcome the very next test
To be more protective to build better walls
Not to let just anyone wander your halls
So when you tire of being away
Know you are always welcome here to stay

I found this to be very sad and truthful. I liked this a lot. I liked it all a good solid all-around poem. I'll be lookin for more of your poems.
