Array ( [sid] => 100216 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => My Morning Smoke [time] => 2005-07-05 16:57:07 [hometext] => Here's a poem I wrote this morning for a class thing. I'm pretty sure it's a different style than I usually do. I would reallu appreciate suggestions! [bodytext] => All I wanted today
a cigarette.
Just to be collected.
But I am to be scattered.

I walked to every person,
but to be denied.
Women talking,
men standing, passing by,
only to receive the same lie.

"This is my last one!"
I say a polite O.K.
as they put their pack away.
A morning walk, but I have none.

One man,
standing,
offers a smoke
though from his lips.
Ragged eyes and ragged clothes.
To him I decline.
Fairwell, my tainted ecstasy!

Rude strangers
make judgment
all by looks.
Too small, too young.
Withhold, refuse.
My frustration.

I wandered to the park
where police never stray
and cigarettes run free
to meet a noisy silence
of seagulls and nothing more.

I sat and fumed
without smoke
in my livid disappointment. [comments] => 5 [counter] => 183 [topic] => 43 [informant] => WorthlesSanity666 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 7 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => oops )

ROFL! I am sorry I did not mean to laugh at your unfortunate predicament. I am sure you were quite annoyed when it happened. But you penned it with a subtle sense of humor which I thoroughly enjoyed!
