Has lowered Old Glory,
Humbly, half massed.
Once flying high, for all to see.
Now, death claiming victory.
When will Old GLory stand tall?
How often will she have to answer her call?
She honors the chosen few,
As she flies in their memory.
Who in service gave all.
Her stars, stripes, colors bold,
Gently sways as their story is told.
No life was loss in vain,
Their lifes memory will remain.
When will Old GLory stand tall?
How often will she have to answer this call"
As she waves half massed,
Stop and look within,
Extend that hand, embrace its loss.
As the sorrows of life are slowly lossed.
Between her furrows, flying low.
In memory of those who had to go.
When will Old Glory stand tall?

Old Glory has and always will stand tall. She just flies at half mast to honor fallen heroes. It is the politicians that slither under her name that don't and can't stand tall and honestly state they are working for the country and the people. Sorry, this is a great poem, but I take exception to what I think it says. The real people of this country are as tall and straight and honest and moral as ever. We do our jobs, raise our children, pay our taxes, and keep on inspite of the dishonesty that is governing us. MorningDove

Fully understand what you are saying, in no way did I mean our nation does not stand tall as a people. What I was conveying was the fact the sadness that came when I went to Jefferson Barracks Nationl Cem. and seen our flag half mass for those who gave their all. I am looking forward to the day when Old GLory does not have to take that journey, but instead fly full and free. When Will Old GLory Stand Tall? I stand humbly waiting....
