Sticks & Stones

Contributed by JakerBaker88 on Thursday, July 29 2010 @ 20:45:44 AEST
Topic: Sad Poetry
How words can hurt.

Good intentions count little,
Especially the humorous kind
For in my witty banter,
You mistook my rhyme;
You cut me down to size,
Ridiculed our friendship---
Broke the smile that was mine
And walked away triumphant,
While I remained silent----
Left far behind.

Indeed, nice piece. Loved the line "broke the smile that was mine".

Misconceptions and misinterpretations can hurt when in actual truth no one was meant to be. You have captured the misery of being misunderstood very well in this poem. Well wirtten.
