Activities For You and Your Children Some
ideas brought to you from Mick and his children.
Activity # 1
With Christmas fast approaching, what better
activity than to make Christmas cards. These are much much nicer than a bought card, more personal and of course, much cheaper. Think of the joy your
family and friends will get from these personalized cards too, when they see the
creativity that your children have put into them.
What you will need
Some white cardboard Acrylic poster or
student paints Small paint brushes Glitter
What To Do
Start by cutting and folding the cardboard
to the size required, if they are to be posted, ensure the size fits the
envelopes you will use. If you are using paints, now comes the fun, and is
best done outside where it will be easier to clean up afterwards. Get your
children to paint their Christmas themes onto the cards, if they are too young
for this, get a few potatoes, and cut into stars, Christmas tree shapes, bells
and the like, then put some red, green or other paint lightly over the shape so
they can then press it against the card. The youngsters will love doing this
next part believe me, while the paint is still wet, sprinkle some glitter over
the paint to give that Christmas sparkle effect. Let dry and you now have
those very special cards to send and spread the Christmas spirit with.
Helpful hints...
I use takeaway food containers and egg
cartons as "disposable" paint trays. If your children love to paint
as mine do, (the walls, shelves, cupboards, floor, carpet...lol) I purchase
student acrylic paints in 2 litre(1/2 gal) cartons, normally in white, black,
green, red, blue and yellow; this way you always have plenty on
hand. You can also make birthday or any other occasions cards in the same way, giving more enjoyment to your children and yourself. Oh,
and best not eat the potatoes afterwards :-)
Now, I hope you enjoy your quality time with
your children as I do.
