At the Heart of the Ocean

The ocean is a sea of secrets.
Some like the water -
clear, transparent.
Others, the depths of the sea -
deep, dark, hidden.
The ocean floor,
long remains that way -
though difficult to conceal.
Beneath lies rapids,
but the surface,
always the same -
traquil, smooth, calm.
Those pearly eyes view it,
seeing what the ocean wants them to
(what is above is not below)
but it makes them happy -
naive - lets keep it that way.
Then touch the surface -
Ripples!
Bubbles ascend from the depths -
curiosity, suspicion.
Trying to stay afloat,
the current pushes down -
forever drowning.
Then let the water drain.
Sparkling surface reveal the rocky bottom -
trouble, doubt, deception.
They leave the beach,
never return!
The ocean is left,
is forgotten -
isolation, abandonment.
Until the water refills,
the surface smooths over -
trust, confidence.
The ocean is a sea of secrets.
