The Remembrance

These days are closing in, and I'm feeling like I'm already forgotten. If I could take one last swing, I would knock you across the table. Just to see you falling over me one last time...
What will happen when my head finally rests? Will my last memory be of a silk-lined pillow? Or will you instead recall the life I lived, the lives I touched? Will you be able to think of the times I made you laugh or helped you stop crying? What's going to happen when my eyes close for the last time?
These days are closing in, and I feel like you remember nothing. If only I could say one last word to you, I would never stop. Just to know that you were the last thing I saw.
When my days have ended, will you live on like nothing ever happened? Or will you mourn for my moving? Will you recall the way I lit up when I saw you, or the way I listened? Or the words I found to cheer you up? Or will I be remembered only for my failures? Or will I even be remembered at all?
