Disease

My blood’s turned to poison,
My life is slipping away
Held in the arms of my lover,
He wants me to stay.
But I have to go,
My time is gone,
Like sand through fingers,
Seeping til it’s gone.
The disease has taken me over,
Controls my body,
It’s taking my life,
There’s nothing I can do.
The doctor says it won’t be long.
And this will all be done.
What do I do? Do I turn and run?
He holds me in his arms,
And hugs me tight,
As if to preserve the life that’s so precious,
And has nearly run out.
I feel safe in his arms,
I don’t want to go,
But God’s got me by the hand,
It’s time to leave.
I go to a place,
Where everything’s warm,
I run on the beach,
I laugh til I cry.
There isn’t any pain anymore.
Except for the hole in my heart,
It won’t go away,
Til I’m held in my lovers arms again.
