Beautiful

Today I took a long look in the mirror. I
wanted to determine whether or not
the lines and curves of my face showed
the hidden anger and torment or a free spirited
little girl. The shape my face
is in is disappointing. I have no beauty
marks, no creases to fit my smile, a
lost glare in my eyes. My soul has been
tortured and it shows in my reflection.
My lips quiver, my eyes begin to tear and I
watch my reflection as a flood of emotion
spills out. For once in a long time, my
face tells the tale of a little girl that has been
trapped for so long. As she gains the freedom
she so deserves, my face changes. Suddenly
my eyes settle and emit a small glimmer of
hope, my cheeks lift and my smile fills the
creases and my face becomes so peaceful
for now, standing in front of the mirror,
I am finally beautiful.
