Dear peanut please forgive me
For I didn't mean to hurt you
I dug you up from the ground
So that you could see the sun
I brought you in and washed you off
So the dirt and grime were gone
I put you in a nice neat bowl
For you to rest your head upon
I tried to start a convo
I guess you had nothing to say
'Round bout noon I saw you shiver
So in the oven you went
I offered you sweet candy
But you opted for salt instead
And sometime near the evening
My stomach needed fed
I searched the fridge for hours
My cupboards all but bare
And there you sat so silent
With nothing there to offer
Except to break your skinny shell
And sacrifice yourself
Dear peanut I won't miss you
For you tasted oh so good
And so you won't be lonely
In my tummy by yourself
Tomorrow I'll go searching
To bring a few cashews...
