Keeping It Simple

'Let's keep it simple', that's what you said.
'It's easier that way, no one gets hurt.'
'Fine', I said. 'That's what I want too'.
It was what I wanted, until I fell for you.

As we lay there in your bed for the very first time,
Your purpose was simple, to take him off my mind.
You were a distraction, a way to ease the pain.
Then I made the mistake of seeing you again.

And again.

And the more I saw you, the more we talked,
The more you appeared in my dreams and my thoughts.
I know i'm in trouble, i've been here before.
I can't have you, it makes me want you more.

But you don't want me, you only want 'fun'.
You've been hurt too many times for all that serious stuff.
You tell me you like me and think about me sometimes,
But it's not enough to make you change your mind.

It's not love, to call it that would be untrue,
I just miss the way I feel when i'm with you.
In your room I escape from the world.
You intrigue me, complete me, I wish I was your girl.

And maybe when i'm lonely i'll give you a call,
Arrange some 'fun' for the night and recall
The good times we had without all that serious stuff
'Let's keep it simple'.......it's easy enough.
