The Duties Of Angels

I just don't think that angels cry
For they know there are reasons why
Their duties take up precious lives
And hours in years when oceans dry.

Their duties take up precious lives
For they know there are reasons why
The sun will burn and fate contrives
Through hours in years when oceans dry.

For they know there are reasons why
By single turn of wheel, they try
As mortals borne from godly sky
To soothe the burn where oceans dry

And help us lead our lives.

Oh angel's wing's been taunting me
As Lucifer insistently-
To me, my son - to me, to me!
You know that there are reasons why
Through hours in years, the oceans dry.

For duties took up precious lives,
Of artistry that fate contrives
The poet's tongue, the painter's eyes
Speak and see this god, whom dives
To soothe the burn where ocean dries
By single turn of wheel that tries

To help us lead our lives.

You know that there are reasons why
You know that sometimes reason dies,
Where angel's wings are taunting thee,
Like Lucifer, insistently,
Through poet's tongue, and painter's eyes,
Which thirsts and paints as Angels fly
And lives to dream that angels cry

When duties take up precious lives,
When sun will burn and fate contrives . . .
