Fade to Black

I long for the seasons
When nights were spent catching fireflies
Or staying up searching for a falling star to wish on
I could really use that star right about now
For more reasons
Than luminaries in the midnight skies
I miss the days where my worst offense
Was stealing cigarettes with friends
Even though we were too afraid to smoke any,
My lungs still choke on the fumes
The fires set, my corpse consumed
Because he set me on fire
And left me there to die
He looked me straight in the eyes with a smile
A grin so beautiful although so vile
My last words are a final shot at romance
But hes wearing a bulletproof vest
He puts me out of my misery with one last stab to the back
I mutter "I'll always love you" as everything fades to black
And then awake miserable again
I long for the times
When nights weren't spent drowning in tears
Or staying up waiting hopelessly for a falling star to wish on
I crave that star right about now
For more reasons
Than luminaries in these heavenless skies
