slammed the door
raving and shouting
at the empty streets
complaining to the Goddess
of the road
how he suspected
this rat of a rider
of unspoken tyranny,
how he had been accused
of not being able
to elevate.
Then hastily,
with a swift gesture
bowed at the Goddess
leaving his thumb
as an offering.
The morning of the same night
all the creatures that shared
extreme deformities
gathered in the marketplace.
They were honourable, dignified
and very much
into making a living.
They offered all sorts
of freshly picked flesh
from their bodies.
This was during
the depression years
when meat was scarce
and flesh was hot!
Certain customers
were panic stricken
at the sight of
such generous offerings.
Some attempted
to dip their bread
into the unhealed spots.
The feast was brief
the casualties low.
No children were present
apart from me
& my sixteen brothers.

' Yurusene be adam, yurusene
durulur mu sokagin ortasinda
durulur mu be adam.'

& the taxi driver
stopped the taxi
jumped out
raving and shouting
at the empty streets
complaining to the
Goddess of the road
how he suspected
this rat of a rider
of unspoken tyranny. The taxi driver
stopped the taxi

how he had been accused
of not being able
