THE STORM
We saw the fire in the distance
A blood-red halo 'round its form,
But it was just a germ in the making
Of a large upcoming storm.
And the people 'round it gathered
And the tears and heartaches flowed,
Remembering the explosion that bore it,
The dead and debris it snowed.
The news broadcasts the affliction
And the panicked crowds that fled.
But can they stop the holocaust
And give life to the dead?
And the flames kept dancing greedily
Till nothing but ash remained.
And the bombs seduced the countryside
And left the ground blood-stained.
We crawled from hiding and glanced around,
And as despair and darkness grew,
We turned our eyes Heaven-bound,
And prayed to One we never knew.
