I’m not defiant, just tender-hearted
Hoping to keep that of him in one piece

All-knowing You are so all-trusting I should be
Even if this decision will dishearten me
A fascinating, wonderful man I’ve found in him
Still You assure me he’s off limits

Whatever the reason, Lord, have Your way
For Your vision stretches leagues beyond mine
The Good Shepherd won’t lead either of us astray

I’ve done this before so why do I dread it
Acting on the instruction you gave me
I’m not defiant, just tender-hearted
